The Marvels Deleted Scenes: 1 Doesn't Add Much And 1 Adds Too Much
We have two deleted scenes from The Marvels with one that is a classic deleted scene that doesn't add much, and one that absolutely should have made the final cut.
Article Summary
- Two "The Marvels" deleted scenes reviewed: one trivial, one crucially explanatory.
- Kamala's extra time and Valkyrie's cameo in one scene deemed a missed opportunity.
- Second deleted scene revealed critical character insights and film plot elements.
- Home release may revive interest in "The Marvels" following its theatrical struggles.
The Marvels is making its way to the small screen after underperforming in a big way on the big screen. It will be very interesting to see how the film does once it ends up on VOD and Disney+, considering that people are much more likely to check out something on a streaming service they already own than risk a movie with mediocre reviews in a movie theater. A home release also means we are getting some deleted scenes as well. The first is above and from IGN. We get to see Kamala spend a little more time in Carol's ship while they are actively switching powers, and we get another Valkyrie cameo. The fact that we were denied Valkyrie saying, "Oh captain, my captain," makes my queer heart very sad.
That's a deleted scene that is a "take it or leave it" type of situation and exactly the type of thing you would expect in a pile of deleted scenes. However, the one shared by USA Today is very different. This is the sort of deleted scene that should be in the film itself because it explains a lot of things. We see Carol interacting more with the Prince and explaining why people weren't evacuated despite the incoming danger. We hear Monica learning more about the jump points that could lead to the connection she makes that ends with her sacrifice. The first scene is okay being a deleted scene; the second should have been in the final cut of The Marvels, 100%.
