VFX Wizzes Double Negative Start Their Own Production Company, Line Up 3 Films

You may not have heard of Double Negative, but you have definitely seen their work. Working out of London, the visual effects company has toiled away on films from The Dark Knight to Harry Potter, Iron Man to Shaun of the Dead. They worked on a whole bunch of films I reckon you probably love. See also the street scene above.

And now the company are starting starting up their own production company, aptly called Double Negative Productions. It will see them teamed with Apollo Productions and Pinewood Studios and could do the British film industry the world of good.

D-Neg Managing diretor Alex Hope explained:

We are excited to be working together, our mutual ambition and intent being to work with, and support, the best of British talent as well as encouraging independent filmmakers from around the world to see Britain as the ideal film location for both filming and postproduction.

The joint venture has a very clear emphasis on revving up the British film industry and that can only be a good thing.

Double Negative really are one of the best postproduction houses in the world, while Pinewood's reputation speaks for itself.

The company's currently have three films in preproduction, the first being The Laureate, starring Sam Claflin and Imogen Poots, and from short film director William Nunez.

Then there's Weightless, from Monster's Ball screenwriter Milo Addica, and also set to get going this year, The Keys to the Street with Gemma Arterton.

Interestingly, Christopher Nolan once did an adaption of The Keys to the Street. While this adaption has nothing to do with him, Double Negative have proven to be Nolan's choice of VFX house. I am sure there is a link there somewhere.

I actually think I have a copy of Nolan's script floating around on my laptop somewhere. Might have to take that out soon…
