Zack Snyder Will Not Be Returning To Justice League
There have been rumors about Justice League for months now about reshoots and who is going to get credit. A few weeks ago, a rumor began to circulate that Zack Snyder was returning to the project in some capacity. Snyder walked away from Justice League after the tragic death of his daughter earlier this year. He's been slowly moving back into the spotlight and released a short film this week. In an interview with Wired, Snyder was asked if he was returning.
But what about Justice League? He left his superhero team-up in capable hands when Whedon took over, but is he still involved? At least seeing it through? Not really. Snyder says it'd be "unfair in a lot of ways" for him to get involved again after being off the movie for so long. "I'm at a place where I feel excited about it and I'm happy for my guys and I love these people that are working on it, and they're my family and I think they're doing an amazing job," he says. "But I've kind of just let them do their thing."
That's probably the right call to make at this stage. This is already going to be an odd project because of the director switch — bringing Snyder back would probably do more harm than good. The man is likely still healing, and this short film was him dipping his toes back into his craft — an excellent first step.
Summary: Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy.
Justice League, directed by Zack Snyder, stars Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, and Henry Cavill. It will be released on November 17th.
