With The CW's Batwoman returning this Sunday, March 8 (with "Grinning From Ear to Ear"), we have two thoughts rambling around in our head. First, we're really impressed with the way the series keeps the lines between "big bads" and "heroes" blurred and constantly shifting – with impactful moments that allow is to relate to characters even if we don't agree with their decisions. Second? Damn it sure feels like a lot of people are learning about Kate's (Ruby Rose) "aka Batwoman" alter-ego – they still call it a secret identity for a reason, right?
Which brings us back to the season's next episode – with Kate on the trail of a maniac who's targeting social media influencers. What's making this stand out for us? The title of the episode and the fact that the "big bad" attacks their faces with a blade has us feeling a "Joker vibe" in all of this. Have we been getting played all along? Are we seeing the origins of Kate's true arch-nemesis? Hmmm…
"Batwoman" season 1, episode 14 "Grinning From Ear to Ear": AT WHAT COST – Batwoman (Ruby Rose) and Luke (Camrus Johnson) are on the trail of a villain targeting social media mavens. Sophie (Meagan Tandy) gets an unexpected visit from her mother, and Mary (Nicole Kang) offers her expertise to assist Kate. Jacob Kane (Dougray Scott) is approached to make good on a favor, while Alice (Rachel Skarsten) focuses on her plans for retribution. Michael Blundell directed the episode written by Denise Harkavy.
