Black Lightning Season 1: China Anne McClain Talks Jennifer Pierce
As we get closer to the series premiere of Black Lightning, the CW is upping the promotion and today we get a new video featuring actress China Anne McClain who will be playing Jennifer Pierce. The 19-year-old actress is playing the 16-year-old daughter of Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams), the former superhero Black Lightning. In the clip, the actress talks about how quickly the cast bonded as a family. And from the clip, it's easy to see that Jennifer is going to be the wisecracking daughter.
In the comics, Jennifer Pierce can turn into sentient lightning, allowing her to fly, absorb electricity, and shoot electrical blasts. She even takes on the name Lightning and joins the Justice Society of America. The series is supposed to dive into both daughters' powers on some level.
McClain has quite the acting bio already having had recurring roles on Jonas, Wizards of Waverly Place, House of Payne, A.N.T. Farm and K.C. Undercover. She's also appeared in the Grown Ups franchise and has made guest appearances on Bones and NCIS. She got her first acting role in The Gospel at the age of seven.
Black Lightning debuts on January 16th at 9 p.m. ET after the return of The Flash on the CW.
