Daredevil, Jessica Jones & More Netflix Listed in Disney+ MCU Timeline
Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Punisher, and The Defenders are now listed in Disney+'s official MCU film/series timeline.
As we inched closer to the premiere of Marvel Studios' Alaqua Cox & Vincent D'Onofrio-starring Echo, the buzz began to grow that the series would be a way to bring the canon from Netflix's Charlie Cox & D-Onofrio-starring Daredevil series officially into the MCU "sacred timeline." But well before then, the signs were already there – with Cox & D'Onofrio having already reprised their roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, respectively, on both the film and television sides. When you add that Jon Bernthal has been tapped to return as Frank Castle/Punisher for the Charlie Cox & D'Onofrio-starring Daredevil: Born Again, you can understand the loud grumblings. From there, we were treated to an Echo teaser that retraced Kingpin's backstory that included Netflix series footage – and even Brad Winderbaum, Head of Streaming, Television and Animation at Marvel Studios, said that he personally believes it's "sacred timeline" canon now.
Apparently, that now also extends to Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Punisher, and The Defenders, too – based on an updated look at the MCU timeline order that's currently up over at Disney+ – here's a look:
Echo: Winderbaum on Netflix's "Daredevil" Part of MCU Sacred Timeline
"I can say that up until this point, we've been a little bit cagey about what's Sacred Timeline, what's not Sacred Timeline. That was born of, frankly, a period at the studio where we were like, 'We have to stick the landing with the vendors.' It was another part of the company developing the Netflix stuff. We were aware of what they were doing, they were aware of what we were doing, but there was a lot to balance anyway," Winderbaum shared with ScreenRant. "But now that some time has passed, now that we see actually how well integrated the stories are, I think that I personally, Brad Winderbaum, would be confident in saying it is part of the Sacred Timeline."
