David Tennant and Cush Jumbo set for 'Deadwater Fell'
David Tennant is having a pretty good year. Hot on the heals of pretty positive reviews as his portrayal of the demon Crowley on Amazon's Good Omens, he's been cast alongside The Good Fight's Cush Jumbo in Channel 4's new crime drama, Deadwater Fell.
Anna Madeley from The Crown and The Terror's Matthew McNulty are also set to appear in the series.
David Tennant will be playing a much-admired local doctor named Tom Kendrick, with Madeley playing his wife, Kate. Kate's best friend is Jess Milner, who will be played by Cush Jumbo.
Jess has a relationship with Steve, played by McNulty, and lives with him in his Scottish home. The couple is working together to raise Steve's children from a previous marriage. Steve is also a sergeant with the local police.
Tragedy strikes the small town when a forest fire breaks out, and Kate is found dead with all three of her children. Tom is rushed to the hospital, and he is quickly assumed to be guilty of killing his wife and children.
Jess decides she's having none of that, and dedicates her energy to unraveling what really happened that fateful night.
The script for Deadwater Fell was written by Daisy Coulam, which has drawn praise from Tennant: "Daisy Coulam has written something very special, chilling and fascinating with these scripts. I am honoured and delighted to be part of telling this extraordinary story."
David Tennant will also be executive producing Deadwater Falls, alongside Coulam, Emma Kingsman-Lloyd, and Karen Wilson. The series will be directed by Lynsey Miller, and distirbuted by Endemol Shine International.
Tennant has worked with the production company behind Deadwater Fell, Kudos Film, previously on Broadchurch, were he worked opposite current Doctor Who lead Jodie Whittaker. Tennant was electrifying in his role as DI Alec Hardy, a heartbroken investigator with a secret.
We'll have more information on Deadwater Fell as the series develops.
