"Fear the Walking Dead" Season 5: "The Althea Tapes" – Meet "Jody" [VIDEO]

If you're a fan of the Walking Dead universe, things are pretty sweet right now – especially from the perspective of AMC's Fear the Walking Dead. Aside from having an epic appearance at this year's Comic-Con International: San Diego (or SDCC to most of us), we learned not only had the series been picked up for a sixth season, but also that the second-half will see the arrival of some new survivors. Colby Minifie (Jessica Jones), Peter Jacobson (The Americans), and newcomer Colby Hollman are set to join the series when it returns this Sunday, August 11 – and we have a new trailer for the final season episodes.

With this year's midseason break only three weeks, the network has found a very cool way to pass the (brief) time and get viewers prepared for series return "Channel 4" – which takes a "found footage"-style perspective to offer a different perspective on the series' action. In a sense, "Althea-vision" – with this edition focusing on "Jody," a trauma surgeon looking to save as many lives as she can. But when the world of the dead costs her something dear, "Jody" opens up about having to start over – in so many ways:

Althea's previous edition focused on "Clark," a family man who emerged from seclusion to check on his former place of business. Over the course of the interview, Althea is presented with an opportuity to preserve her post-apocalyptic life's work – but convincing "Clark" isn't easy:

In an earlier chapter, "CJ" and "Earl" take turns in front of the camera: a mismatched pair of survivors who found a common bound, their time in front of the camera exposes some new truths that literally moves their future in a new direction (and it hits the heart hard):

Here's a look back at the series' intro video, with Althea explaning why they should never give up hope (especially not when Isabelle (Sydney Lemmon) is still out there on a CRM helicopter) as well the importance of her interviews. Following that, we're introduced to "Ed" in the first chapter: a man desperate to get back to his family in Tyler, Texas, who takes Althea up on her offer:

Now here's a look at not only midseason return episode "Channel 4," but a rundown of the episode titles for the remainder of the season:

Fear the Walking Dead season 5, episode 9 "Channel 4": The group, traveling in a convoy, doubles-down on their mission to find and help survivors.

Season 5, episode 10 "210 Words Per Minute": Morgan and Grace search an abandoned shopping mall for supplies and to fulfill a dying man's wish but the mission quickly turns to a fight for survival; Dwight's resolve to be a better man is tested.

Season 5, episode 11 "You're Still Here"

Season 5, episode 12 "Ner Tamid"

Season 5, episode 13 "Leave What You Don't"

Season 5, episode 14 "Today and Tomorrow"

Season 5, episode 15 "Channel 5"

Season 5, episode 16 "End of the Line"

Heading into season 5 of Fear the Walking Dead, the group's mission is clear: locate survivors and help make what's left of the world a slightly better place. With dogged determination, Morgan Jones leads the group with a philosophy rooted in benevolence, community and hope. Each character believes that helping others will allow them to make up for the wrongs of their pasts.

But trust won't be easily earned. Their mission of helping others will be put to the ultimate test when our group finds themselves in unchartered territory, one which will force them to face not just their pasts but also their fears. It is only through facing those fears that the group will discover an entirely new way to live, one that will leave them forever changed.
