Marvel's Agents of SHIELD Finds Its Audience on Friday Night
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD returned last night to some decent ratings numbers. The series' fifth season debut pulled in 2.5 million total viewers with a 0.7 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic. This compares favorably both to their last largest audience on January 10th, and is steady against the season finale demo back in May. These numbers are also for the show's new night, Friday — normally a lower-rated evening.
By comparison, Once Upon a Time saw a 2.3 million / 0.5 rating most recently at the 8 p.m. time slot while Marvel's Inhumans averaged 2.6 million and a 0.6 rating during its run at 9 p.m.
A look at their competition and CBS is the winner of the night with MacGyver (6.7 mil/0.8) and Hawaii Five-0 (8.6 mil/0.9), but both are down a tenth, bringing in their series lows. Blindspot (3.3 mil/0.7) was up a tenth for NBC while Fox's The Exorcist (1.23 mil/0.4) tied its smallest audience but remained steady in the demo. Over on the CW, Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer (1.34 mil/0.3), which was a 150 percent improvement over the recent numbers of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
Some of the normal viewers may have been focused elsewhere with the news of the Michael Flynn plea and the vote on the Senate Tax Bill.
