Netflix Gallops into First-Look Deal with Dark Horse Entertainment

Following the success and popularity of Dark Horse-published comic television adaptation Umbrella Academy and film Polar from Jonas Åkerlund on Netflix, it seems the pair are moving forward together.

Netflix Gallops into First-Look Deal with Dark Horse Entertainment

Word just came down that Netflix has entered into a first-look deal with Dark Horse Entertainment, which will include possible film and TV projects using Dark Horse IP (intellectual properties). Dark Horse Entertainment's Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg and Paul Schwake signed on to produce, a deal that also includes additional possible IP.

Dark Horse Entertainment President and founder Mike Richardson said of the deal:

"We are very excited about this new arrangement with the talented people at Netflix. We have strong creative relationships as well as a large content library to work with and, as we have seen with our recent projects, Netflix is the perfect partner to bring our stories to fans around the world."

Senior VP at Dark Horse Keith Goldberg said: "With The Umbrella Academy and Polar, Netflix has pushed our content out into the world and allowed it to spread in a way that we've never experienced before, and we couldn't be more excited to bring a whole new slate of movies and shows to their world-wide audience."

Netflix's Vice President of Original Content Cindy Holland offered: "Following the success of The Umbrella Academy, we're excited to extend our relationship with Dark Horse Comics. The Netflix teams are already working in deep collaboration with Dark Horse to identify projects beyond the world of traditional superheroes — branching into horror, fantasy and family entertainment — that we think our members will love."

We're SUUUUPER curious to see what the next Netflix / Dark Horse property is gonna be! What would you like to see get a series (or film) out of the publisher's lexicon?

The Twitter exchange between the two accounts was pretty adorable.
