NFL's Thursday Night Move to Fox Ends the Color Rush

NFLThe best news to come out of the National Association of Broadcasters Show in Las Vegas today involves the NFL and Thursday Night Football. With the full schedule of games moving over to FOX next year, FOX Sports Executive VP of Programming, Research and Content Strategy Bill Wanger told the audience that the Color Rush uniforms would no longer be part of the Thursday Night broadcasts and that hard core fans don't need gimmicks to watch.

The alternative uniforms became a thing two years ago and immediately came under criticism when some color-blind fans found it impossible to tell the difference between the monochromatic uniforms. Last year the Color Rush uniforms were still technically mandatory, but the NFL gave outs to some teams who really didn't want to use theres… one example being the Washington Redskins who had a horrible yellow-on-yellow combo.

This doesn't kill the uniforms, as the teams can choose to use them if they wish. The Tennessee Titans unveiled a blue-on-blue alternative uniform which they called 'Color Rush'. They can choose to wear that when they wish.

Wagner also told the audience that the game schedule for Thursday night will be stronger, insinuating better games will be moved to the prime time broadcast. This is said to come from changes by the NFL to time zone rules allowing match-ups featuring teams in more than one time zone.
