Star Trek: Discovery Beams In The Show Lead from A Walking Dead

CBS's upcoming online-only Star Trek: Discovery series has just picked up at least one cast member from The Walking Dead. Sonequa Martin-Green, who plays Sasha on AMC's long-running zombie fest and amateur baseball league series, will be playing what's described as the "lead role" in the 6th of the Star Trek series.

Martin-Green will be playing a lieutenant commander in the new series, which role the former showrunner Bryan Fuller described at last summer's Television Critics Association press tour  as having "caveats."

Before anyone panics and starts running around in circles about how this means she'll be killed off in TWD, don't be too hasty. Some of Variety's ninja sources are reporting that she will indeed be continuing on as a Walking Dead series regular.

Already announced castings for Discovery include Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), Doug Jones (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Anthony Rapp (Rent), Shazad Latif (Penny Dreadful) and Chris Obi (American Gods).
