The Boys Find Their Starlight as Actress Erin Moriarty is Cast
Seems that when Amazon Studios taketh away, they also giveth. Deadline is reporting that actress Erin Moriarty will be joining the cast of the straight-to-series drama The Boys. Based on the comic series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys is set in a world where superheroes are susceptible to the same vices as pop idols and rock stars and some embrace the dark side of celebrity and fame. From that comes a group of vigilantes, informally known as 'the boys', who are out to take down corrupt heroes by playing very dirty.
The series is being adapted by Erick Kripke, Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, with the last two set to direct. Moriarty will play Annie, a young woman with the power to flash lightning bolts from her eyes. She takes the name Starlight and dreams of becoming a superhero like the greatest team of all time, the Seven. This isn't Moriarty's first time in a superhero universe having played Hope Shlottman on Marvel's Jessica Jones. She's also played Natalia Wallrave on Red Widow and appeared in the first season of HBO's True Detective. As for film, she's been in Captain Fantastic and the Kings of Summer among other credits.
The project has moved around a bit, first taking life as a film and then spent last year in development with Cinemax before ending up with Amazon Studios.
