The CW Greenlights Ruby Rose's 'Batwoman' Spinoff Series Pilot
Surprising no one, The CW has officially greenlit the pilot for a Batwoman spinoff series starring Ruby Rose.
After the character's introduction during the most recent "Arrowverse" crossover event "Elseworlds", the news is welcome. Rose will again play the title character in the series, which will be the first to feature a lesbian superhero as the main character.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, David Nutter is in the hot seat to direct, after previously directing episodes of The Flash and Arrow for The CW.
The Vampire Diaries Caroline Dries will serve as showrunner and writer, as well as executive producing alongside Greg Berlanti.
Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane (Rose) soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city's criminal resurgence. But don't call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham's symbol of hope.
We'll let you know when we hear more about the pilot. Until then, you can rewatch the "Elseworlds" crossover event beginning on Monday January 7th 2019.
