Titans Season 1: Rumors of Another DC Hero Popping Up in the Series

The Titans live-action series is moving along, even though we still don't know when it well debut or what the DC-themed streaming service is going to be called. But not long ago executive producer Geoff Johns teased the fifth episode title as Doom Patrol, and then we got casting word for Doom Patrol members the Chief (Bruno Bichir), Elasti-Girl (April Bowlby), Robotman (Jake Michaels) and Negative Man (Dwain Murphy).

The newest rumor has to do with the title for the seventh episode. According to TitansTV.net, the title of the episode is 'Jason Todd'. The introduction of Jason Todd would make a lot of sense if they plan to have Dick Grayson evolve from Robin to Nightwing in the series — having a new sidekick for Batman would help facilitate the name and costume change. But at this point, the rumor is unconfirmed.

For those not familiar with the character of Jason Todd, he was a second orphan brought into the Batman series who took over the role of Robin. He was more street-wise and rougher around the edges than Dick. He introduced himself to the Dark Knight by jacking the tires off of the Batmobile. His fate seemed to be sealed when a call in vote lead to fans choosing to have him killed off by the Joker in the famous Death in the Family storyline. He was brought back to life as the Red Hood and has been around for the last few years. Todd first appeared in Batman #368 by Gerry Conway and Don Newton.

The series is from executive producers Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. Already cast as Dick Grayson is Brenton Thwaites, along with Anna Diop as Starfire, Ryan Potter as Beast Boy, Teagan Croft as Raven, Minka Kelly as Dove and Alan Ritchson as Hawk. The series focuses on Grayson as he moves out of the shadow of The Batman and into becoming a hero of his own. We've seen images of Thwaites in a Robin costume, but I expect that we'll also see him as Nightwing.
