A Petition To Moffat And McGann To Make An Eighth Doctor Series
You have to appreciate a story like this and the fan dedication that goes with a show that has been on for fifty years. After seeing the six minute plus Night Of The Doctor video starring Paul McGann, a Jersey U.K. man (is there a shore there?) [Rich adds: Jersey is a small island off the coast of England. It's nothing but shore] named Theodore Stone was so impressed by the few minutes of the Eighth Doctor that he decided to start a petition on change.org urging Steven Moffat and McGann to make an Eighth Doctor series…
For 17 years, we only had the TV Movie to satisfy our appetite for a Live-Action Eighth Doctor. On the 14th November 2013, we were granted the minisode, the "Night of the Doctor". Although we do possess a vast number of Big Finish Audio-Dramas and books, it would be a shame to never see McGann as the Time Lord on-screen again. Therefore, I have created this petition in order to drum up interest and support in order to pressure both Moffat and McGann into making a live-action series, featuring the Eighth Doctor. It would be a shame for such a fantastic actor and Doctor to be once again confined to the past yet again. Even a web series would suffice!
This will probably never happen, but you never know unless you try!Geronimo!
It's obvious that Stone is not alone in his desire for more live-action McGann Doctor adventures as over 4200 people have signed up so far with a target goal of 5,000. I'm not sure what happens at 5,000 but he does seem well on the way to getting them. Besides Stone initial write up, there have been quite a few passionate responses in support of the idea from all around the world including the United States, France, Poland, Australia and the Philippines.
I'm not sure how seriously the BBC will take a petition, but anything that brings the world more Doctor Who, I'm all for.
