Will Jupiter's Legacy Prequel/Sequel Be Called Jupiter's Requiem Or Jupiter's Circle?
Yesterday, Mark Millar and Frank Quitely published the final issue of Jupiter's Legacy Book One.
But will the second book have a different title?
It already went through one, Jupiter's Children. But Millar and Quitely also applied for trademarks for Jupiter's Gift and Jupiter's Requiem. It looks like the prequel with Wilfredo Torres…
…may have been called Jupiter's Gift, judging by the JG line up top. But both "Gift" and "Requiem" were abandoned as trademark applications as they hadn't been used within a certain time period. Well, they have reapplied for new trademark registrations, again for Jupiter's Requiem but now, also Jupiter's Circle instead of Gift. A name change perhaps?
Millar recently announced that Volume Two of the main series will appear in the autumn on 2015. But might it take longer Millar has stated that his new publishing plan, in light of Jupiter's Legacy's delays and resultant falling sales is to stockpile series and not go to print until the artwork is completed.
"Note: We have our Jupiter's prequel series set in 1958 running between Volume 1 and Volume 2 as Frank stockpiles. I want the whole series in the drawer before we launch the second volume"
Although Millar still claims that Quitely can draw 4-5 issues a year and that Quitely believes he can finish volume 2 in 'a year', similar same claims were made before. The first volume took 2 years and 6 months, between the first pages being drawn, based on their preview appearance in the 2012 Supercrooks comis, and Millar announcing the final pages being received at the end of 2014.
If Quitely's schedule for Volume One is matched, it may actually take till 2017 before Millar is willing to publish. Mind you, Quitely hasn't got a Multiversity comic to distract him this time, and Millar may choose to begin publishing before the second volume is complete – and still come out on time.
You never know. Have to say, I've been happy to wait…
