Grace Park And Daniel Dae Kim Leave Hawaii Five-O

As Hawaii Five-O heads into their eighth season, they will be losing two of their stalwarts who have been with the series since the pilot. Grace Park (Battlestar Galactica) and Daniel Dae Kim (Lost). The actors who play cousins Kono Kalakaua and Chin Ho Kelly, both had their characters fate left up in the air at the end of season seven. Kono was headed off to track a child trafficking ring in Arizona while Chin was offered to start up his own taskforce in San Francisco.

As for why they are leaving, Variety reports that Park and Kim were seeking to be paid on an equal basis with their co-stars Alex O'Loughlin and Scott Caan. Kim and Park have consistantly been paid 10 to 15 percent lower while O'Loughlin and Caan also get a percentage points on the shows back end. This comes on the heels of Masi Oka (Heroes) leaving last year after playing Dr. Max Bergman since early in season one.

Hawaii Five-O

"I will never forget meeting Daniel while still writing the pilot and being certain there was no other actor who I'd want to play Chin Ho Kelly," said executive producer Peter Lenkov. "Needless to say, Daniel has been an instrumental part of the success of 'Hawaii Five-0' over the past 7 seasons and it has personally been a privilege to know him. Grace's presence gave 'Hawaii Five-0' a beauty and serenity to each episode. She was the consummate collaborator, helping build her character from day 1. They will always be ohana to us, we will miss them and we wish them both all the best."

Word of a new female lead was being looked for came out a few weeks back. How they plan on replacing the other role is unclear.
