ABC Just Ordered A Live-Action 'Jetsons' Series Pilot

If you know all the words to The Jetsons theme song, chances are this story may have meaning for you. The futuristic family just may be coming to a prime time TV slot near you before too long.

Word just came down from Variety that ABC has placed a pilot order for a live-action adaptation of The Jetsons. There have been several attempts at reviving the 1962 cartoon, but little to no movement has come to fruition.

Robert Zemeckis will executive produce along with Jack Rapke via their Compari Entertainment banner. Gary Janetti, who has written for and produced shows like Family Guy and Will & Grace, will write and executive produce. Compari's Jackie Levine will serve as a co-executive producer. Warner Bros. Television will produce in association with Nickelby Inc. and Compari.

The Hanna-Barbera library is currently owned by Warner Bros. Entertainment, and there was a story earlier this year that Sausage Party co-director Conrad Vernon was adapting the classic animated series. Interesting choice.

No word yet on who will be tackling the script, or any possible news on casting this early in the game. But chances are as this project picks up steam, we'll get some information on that front.

In the meantime, go watch The Jetsons movie from 1990 with that totally tubular soundtrack from Tiffany.
