Narcos Season 3 – Moving Past Pablo Escobar

As the Netflix series Narcos moves to it's third season, there is a big shift in story happening. The show is moving past Pablo Escobar, they focus of the first two seasons, and are now centered on the four bosses that moved up to replace him, the Cali Cartel. The featurette below looks at the changes for the season and some of the new character being brought in along with the ones sticking around. Some of the new actors bringing the Cali Cartel to life include Miguel Angel Silvestre, Francisco Denis, Alberto Ammann and Pepe Rapazote.

Pedro Pascal returns as Javier Peña but he will be without his partner from the last two seasons—and the series narrator—Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook). There will be two new DEA agents Chris Fesitl (Michael Stahl-David) and Daniel Van Ness (Matt Whelan) joining the operation instead.

The series is following the historical facts that when Escobar was taken down, it was the Cali Cartel that moved into his place and became one of the richest drug trafficking organization in the world. They ran their business very differently than Escobar, preferring to remain obscure and bribing government officials when possible.

Narcos Season 3 arrives September 1st on Netflix.
