You Can Currently Get The Original 'Fallout' For Free On Steam
At the time Interplay Productions published the first Fallout title back in 1997, it eas a pretty badass title that no one really saw coming. (Well, that's not fair, PC Gamer saw it coming, but we don't have their old issues to point you to, so take our word for it.) Anyway, the game was a massive success and led to the insane culture behind the game with all three sequels and spin-off properties and whatnot that Bethesda has done since acquiring the IP. Now Bethesda is showing you their love for the game's 20th anniversary by giving it away to you for free.
More specifically, you can currently download and install the game on Steam completely free. All you have to do is go to the store right now and click install to get it. However, there's a catch, you only have until 11:59 p.m. PDT today (Saturday, September 30th) to claim the game before the price is reset back to the original #20 asking price. That's a hell of a steal for fans who may not own the first game and want to try it out. Right now this is the only deal happening as there are no additional discounts or free copies of Fallout 2 or 3, but at least snagging the first one is a nice gesture.
