Axel Alonso Also Returning to Comics as a Comics Publisher?

Man, for an industry that is meant to be dying, it's getting a hell of a lot of dead cat bounces.

The current model seems to be an editor who worked for Marvel and/or DC Comics who left, now setting up a new publisher — either an imprint of a big publisher, or getting funding to set up on their own, and bringing along some big name creators with them.

AfterShock seemed to form the model, with Mike Marts leaving editing the X-Men books to edit the AfterShock line. Shelly Bond and Black Crown. Karen Berger and Berger Books. Tom Peyer and Ahoy Comics. Joe Illidge and Catalyst Prime (for a bit). Probably Dinesh Shamdasani and Hive Mind. And, yes, we reported earlier that Bill Jemas appears to be getting back in the game.

So it should probably have been no surprise to hear that Axel Alonso, previously Editor-in-Chief of Marvel Comics until last year, was also doing the same.

I have no details, save that he is looking for editorial talent.

Maybe he'll be at San Diego Comic-Con?
