Checking In With The Dark Tales Of The Brothers Harrow
The Brothers Harrow write for Bleeding Cool:
The Brothers Harrow are releasing an ambitious graphic novel project comprised of two genre-defying stories that push the boundaries of the comic medium. THE DARK TALES OF THE BROTHERS HARROW Volume 1 collects the first two issues of two sci-fi fantasy titles – The Delta and Avalon: The World Within. In support of the project, they have launched a Kickstarter campaign in collaboration with renown concept artists Levente Peterffy (Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), and Alex Charleux. (Remember Me).
The Next Step in Graphic Novel Evolution (Part 2)
Four months ago we came to you with an idea for launching a Kickstarter (see article "The Dark Tales of The Brothers Harrow – The Next Step in Graphic Novel Evolution). We wrote with the dream of combining two elements we all love: film and comics. We set out to blend the narrative structure of comics with cinematic visuals. Can you have story of Sandman and Blade Runner visuals at the same time? Yes. Of course. So we collaborated with two great concept artists Alex Charleux (Remember Me) and Levente Peterffy (Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty) to make it happen.
The idea for The Dark Tales of The Brothers Harrow – Volume I was born. The stories:
Avalon -The World Within (art by Levente Peterffy) is a dark fantasy epic about a man lost amidst a quarter-life crisis. At his darkest hour, he awakens to the reality of a mysterious fantasy world that mirrors earth, Avalon. It is here where he encounters uncanny creatures and finds himself at the center of a conflict between six gods vying for the rule of Avalon.
The Delta – Descent into The Black Inferno, (art by Alex Charleux) is the story of a self-righteous military veteran and firefighter that awakens from a coma, twenty years after the chaos of Hurricane Katrina. New Orleans is now a dangerous post-apocalyptic nightmare and the hero, in search of his missing son, must fight his way through the dystopian Underworld to investigate his son's abduction only to discover that the answer lies in the darkness of his past.
We thought Kickstarter would be the best place for our idea, the appropriate channel to making this dream a reality. Right? What we learned was that Kickstarter is not only about developing ideas. But it is more importantly about mobilizing a community, calling followers, and friends in various social networks out of their lairs of indecision, turning comic and film lovers into backers, and sharing your mutual enthusiasm for the art form. Above all, we learned that we have to motivate the support of new voices (even if those voices are not our own). Kickstarting, crowdfunding, is more collaborative than the creative process itself.
We have a few rewards for those that would like to collaborate with us and help us reach our goal and beyond.

Material rewards are amazing, but they represent an emotional investment – a bit of stake in our dream to create the new idea and the reader's desire to see it. This is the definition of a supportive creative community. This is an ideal collaboration and what Kickstarter is about. Help us, collaborate with us, and we will see you on the other side The Kickstarter ends on April 27.
