Comics And Classic Poetry Collide: A Spotlight On Julian Peters

Some of you may not know that I'm a poetry freak. I'm also a big fan of many different forms of classic literature. Edgar Allan Poe is pretty high up on my list of favorite poets/writers. So when I came across bits of his poem Annabel Lee adapted into a comic form, I was pretty thrilled. Then when I explored the artist and found a manga style version of When You Are Old by W.B. Yeats, I fell out of my chair. The artists name is Julian Peters. He's a comic book artist/illustrator who prides himself on adapting classic poems into comic form…pretty cool, huh?

I feel like this is an incredibly clever way to expose people to forms of classic literature that they would otherwise ignore. I know there have been some graphic novel adaptations of classic novels like Pride and Prejudice, but well…I want more! It's refreshing to see an artist tackling content like this and I think I'd like to have a word with him about his future plans…so stay tuned for that! Until then, check out the panels I've posted below and read the full versions on his website here.
