The Cover To Mighty Thor #20 Really Gives Away Who The War Thor Is… (SPOILERS)
This is the solicited cover to The Mighty Thor #20. It features the new wielder of the Ultimate Thor Mjolnir hammer, The War Thor, the identity of whom was up in the air. At C2E2, Jason Aaron teased that it would be someone we have seen before. Back in March when Unworthy Thor #5 hit, we told you, "We have Jone Foster, the Mighty Thor, we have Odinson the Unworthy Thor… and it seems that we have another one on the way." The solicitation blurb for The Mighty Thor #20 asks, "Who will hold the hammer now?" And it appears that we are finding out.
But the actual cover had a very significant difference from the solicited version.
Thor is traditionally portrayed with a red beard, except not so much in the Marvel comic books. But one of the regular Asgardian characters does have a red beard…
Quite a nice trick, don't you think? Volstagg certainly has the chops for it.
The Mighty Thor #20 by Jason Aaron, Russell Dauterman, Matthew Wilson, Valerie Schiti and Veronica Gandini is published today by Marvel Comics, and tells you quite a lot about War Thor and other important matters than we have here.
