DC Confirms David Marquez/Batman/Superman/Secret Six Comic – Well Most Of It

You have to feel sorry for DC Comics Publicity Manager Clark Bull, arranging all those exclusive comic book reveals with prominent media partners, only for Bleeding Cool to just run the story out of the blue, forcing them to up their schedule or look even sillier. And so DC Comics has hurriedly confirmed yesterday's Bleeding Cool scoop of a new Batman/Superman series uncovering a new Secret Six team, by Joshua Williamson and David Marquez, spinning out if The Batman Who Laughs – though media partners like Newsarama were happier to say that it was first announced on The Hollywood Reporter today. Bleeding Cool readers know better though, and could see it was quite the hurried Rich Twitch, even as we were looking at the teasers laid down by Joshua.

Though they did add that as a result if all this, The Batman Who Laughs series has added an issue to take it to seven issues. See? We didn't know that.

To launch the new DC series, the first arc of BATMAN/SUPERMAN will follow the two titular heroes as they hunt down six infected heroes in the DCU—people revealed to be infected by the Batman Who Laughs with a deadly pathogen that violently transforms them into the evilest versions of themselves. The Dark Knight and the Man of Steel must journey into the depths of Gotham City to learn which of their fellow heroes has been transformed into the horrifying horseman of their most dangerous and deranged foe ever.

What they didn't say was which members of the DC Universe would be infected – we tagged Perry White and Donna Troy, but there are plenty more suspects as well. We also heard that originally Wally West would be one but Heroes In Crisis changed that.

Anyway, here's more of the PR now it's all official. We hope we didn't put too much of the Batman Who Laughs among the pigeons yesterday – sorry, Clark Bull, if that was the case.

BATMAN/SUPERMAN #1, written by Joshua Williamson and illustrated by David Marquez with colors by Dave Stewart, will hit shelves August 14, 2019. BATMAN/SUPERMAN #1 cover art is by Marquez and Alejandro Sánchez with a variant cover by Leinil Yu.
