Erotic Lives Of The Superheroes Gets An English Translation

eroticErotic Lives Of The Superheroes is a novel by Marco Mancassola originally published in 2008 and now with a new English translation and… it's probably going to have to be classed as parody, certainly as far as free speech legislation in the US goes.

That's because the novel features;

New York, early twenty-first century. Once, they were famous and their bodies were powerful. They were Mister Fantastic, Batman, Mystique, Superman…Now they know the pains of ageing and regret. And as an obscure conspiracy is threatening their lives, making them even more vulnerable, they live out one last, desperate love story. At once realistic and visionary, here is a novel that revives a pop imagination with a narrative of singular power. Beautifully written, playful and tragic, this is a story about the broken heart of not only a group of former superheroes, but of an entire civilisation, an entire world.

And

Divided into four parts, each focused on one character, and an epilogue, the book includes the story of the two De Villa brothers, children of an Italian family who moved to the States in the 1970s: as they grow up they will find themselves involved in the stories of the famous superheroes.

With Batman featuring in the following fashion;

Now Batman has been "outed" as an ageing homosexual who picks up young men for one-night stands and sits next to Sir Elton John at New York charity dinners

Yup, it's going to be one of those days. It's all a bit Superfolks isn't it?
