How To Get Work As A Fantasy Artist – Tom Braxa Gives Away His Secrets
I'm always curious about the books you see like "How To Sell Your Graphic Novel To Hollywood" or "How To Make Money As A Writer". The reason I'm always curious… and skeptical… is usually the name of the author is someone I've never heard of and even googling them doesn't back up their credentials. (Don't know if the two titles I used above as examples are real or not… no offense to the authors if they are.)
So when I saw: Get Work As A Fantasy Artist: How To Break In And Stay In, I was a tad skeptical as I wasn't familiar with author Tom Braxa. But one look at his website and you see a resume that backs up the claim. He's done character designs for Aliens Vs Predator and Van Helsing, and illustrations for Wizards of the Coast, Blizzard (the Warcraft folks), White Wolf and many more… all the folks that do most of the fantasy art employing.
So what topics does he cover in his book?
- How to build an effective illustration portfolio
- How to find fantasy art job opportunities
- How to identify companies to solicit and tips on how to do so
- Understanding art directors' motives and what they're looking for
- What makes art directors hire artists
- Staying foremost in their minds
So if you are a fantasy artist and your looking for some tips on the industry, you might want to check out freelancefantasyartist.com and find out more. There's even a 2 for 1 digital copy deal with another book Braxa did about Artistic Growth.
