Marvel's Gamerverse Continues in January with Spider-Man: The Black Cat Strikes

At the This Week in Marvel panel at New York Comic Con, Marvel announced the next mini-series taking place in Marvel's Gamerverse, the comic book world based on the video game Marvel's Spider-Man, which is itself based on Spider-Man comics. Think of it like a giant snake swallowing its own tail, which is pretty much a metaphor for the comic book industry in general.

In any case, the next mini-series will be Spider-Man: The Black Cat Strikes, written by Dennis Hopeless "Hallum" with a cover by Sana Takeda and art by Luca Maresca.

Marvel's Gamerverse Continues in January with Spider-Man: Black Cat Strikes

Spider-Man: Velocity, the second mini-series in the Gamerverse and the first featuring an original story, is set to wrap up in December with Spider-Man: Velocity #5, so it looks like Marvel plans to treat it like an ongoing series with a new number one issue for every storyline, a big change from announcing ongoing series and treating them like minis by canceling them after five issues.

Look for Spider-Man: The Black Cat Strikes #1 in stores in January, and stay tuned to Bleeding Cool for more news from this panel and New York Comic Con. Bleeding Cool Ace Reporter Sofia Annunziata is on the scene to capture photos and details.
