Reading The New Free Star Wars Comic – Not From Marvel, But From LINE WebToon
A new Star Wars comic book debuts in the USA today, but not from Marvel. Instead it's a digital comic from Korean publisher LINE Webtoon, and it retells the original Star Wars Trilogy but beginning from the point of view of a much younger Luke Skywalker growing up on Tatooine.
The comic is written and drawn by Korean creator Hong Jacga, author of Korean comics Hwa Ja, Dorothy Band and The Cat Funeral, the first translated into a stage musical, the second into a movie..
Hong Jacga has reconstructed events from the films, expanding on stories, characters, backgrounds and locations. It doesn't begin with Star cruisers in battle, or with droids walking across a desert landscape but with a young boy dealing with womp rats…
Chapter one can be read right now here.
Beginning today, the comic will update every Thursday and Sunday on LINE Webtoon for free. Readers can access this via the LINE Webtoon web site or download the LINE Webtoon app through the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Previously only available in Korea, in Korean, it's US availability means it must now considered official Lucasfilm canon…
