First Image For Casey Walker's A Little Bit Zombie

As one who follows the fashion vaguaries of the horror genre I can't help but notice that zombies are, like, so hot right now. I have a calendar on my wall that I use to cross off the seconds left until season 2 of The Walking Dead rolls around (it's pretty time-consuming filling it in, but it makes me feel better), but in the meantime here's a fresh new image (courtesy of our friends at Bloody Disgusting) from A Little Bit Zombie, the new horror-comedy being directed by TV veteran Casey Walker. The film is currently in its third week of filming with a script penned by newcomer Trevor Martin and Christopher Bond, who co-created Evil Dead: The Musical.

The film follows the story of a groom-to-be named Steve (played by Kristopher Turner) who gets infected with a zombie virus at his wedding and has to go on the run from a zombie-hunter and his future bridezilla.

Did I mention this movie is Canadian? Yeah, I have a raging fetish for all things Canadian since I lived in Toronto for a year whilst at university (I actually arrived there the week after Evil Dead: The Musical finished its first run, to my eternal sadness). For a country with about half the population of the UK, Canada turns out a hell of a lot of great cinema, and a lot of TV shows and films get shot in places like Vancouver and Toronto simply because they're beautiful cities and it's a lot cheaper than shooting in LA or New York.

Best of all, because A Little Bit Zombie is Canadian, it stars Stephen McHattie, also known as Stephen "F**k Yeah!" McHattie, one of my favourite actors of all time and a true horror veteran, who in this film plays the zombie-hunter Max. You'll probably know him if you've ever seen Bruce McDonald's rage zombie film Pontypool, and he also played Old Nite Owl in Watchmen, but if you've not encountered him before then take it from me that he's great and has one of the coolest voices in the business.

The rest of the cast is predominantly Canadian too and led by Shawn Roberts, who already has plenty of zombie-fighting experience, having starred in Land of the Dead, Diary of the Dead and Resident Evil: Afterlife.
