Is This The Greatest Dark Horse Presents Ever?
Yesterday, from Dark Horse Comics, came the eighth issue of Dark Horse Presents. Now over the years, that series has seen the birth of the likes of Concrete, The Mask, Hellboy, Sin City, Next Men and so much more. It has an unquestionable pedigree. But what makes today's issue quite so special?
Well, first it has a BPRD strip by Mike Mignola, John Arcudi and Duncan Fegredo, with characters in a world after the death of Hellboy.
There's a new chapter of Beasts Of Burden by Evan Dorkin and Jill Thompson.
There's the first chapter of Brian Wood and Kristian Donaldson's new crerator owned ongoing series, The Massive.
There's one off called Time To Live with Burke & Hare's Martin Conaghan and not-Ashes' Jimmy Broxton/James Hodgkins.
More of Neal Adams' Blood and Howard Chaykin's Marked Man
The first chapter of The Once And Future Tarzan by Alan Gordon and Thomas Yeates
Concrete Park by Tony Puryear
Skulter by MJ Butler and Mark Wheatley
Oh, and towards the end, the beginning of a brand new comic, The Many Murders Of Miss Cranbourne drawn by Simon Rohrmuller and written by… me.
I read Dark Horse Presents at a perfect time, when I was exploring what comics could be and the stories they could tell. Dark Horse Presents opened me up to a whole load of possibilities. I discovered Concrete, Sin City, Next Men, Bacchus and much more. So while I can't say if this is the greatest issue of Dark Horse Presents for everyone, it certainly is for me.
Dark Horse Presents is 80 pages of comics for $7.99. That's the equivalent of a normal Marvel or DC comic for $1.99.
