"I'm The Best There Is At What I Do – And What I Do Is Teach Political Geography"
At University, I was a Politics student. Thoroughly enjoyed it, did quite well, and it was only a fortuitous meeting that ripped me from going into politics as a career or sorts and into advertising instead. I still write about politics, for the Daily Show blog and draw cartoons for Guido Fawkes, and it's something I'm as happy to argue the toss over as I am to discuss the definition of terrorism in a post IRA society.
And so, it seems, is Wolverine. In the latest Astonishing X-Men by Warren Ellis and Kaare Andrews, not only do we have a discussing about racial politics between Storm and Cyclops…
but Wolverine gives a summation of current African politics and an interpretation of Nelson Mandela that would have sat well with Margaret Thatcher.
Warren Ellis there folks, teaching politics, history and geography to Americans, one comic book at a time.
