Ron Howard To Direct Warner Bros' Jungle Book Adaptation
Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu is out and now Ron Howard may be in to direct Warner Bros' planned adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, according to THR.
Warner Bros is clearly not ready to give up this fight with Disney, which is also developing its own Jungle Book live-action remake with Jon Favreau directing. Both films will be about Mowgli, the human kid raised by wolves who makes friends with Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther while fending off the tiger Shere Khan.
When Inarritu was attached to WB's version, it seemed like there could be potentially very different takes on the same story, but Howard vs. Favreau? I'm pretty sure this is basically going to come down to which one comes out first, even more than usual in cases like this.
