Wednesday Runaround – Strange, Spoilers And Spiders
StrangeWatch: The character Bleeding Cool has been referring to as The Strange Woman of DC's New 52. Because we were under the impression that her name may be "Strange". But yesterday, the DC Source blog revealed that she was called Pandora. No explanation for her presence, actions, or what's up with her freaky long fingers has been given. XWatch: Kieron Gillen has been taking part in a Reddit I AM, answering uestions about his work. Here's what he said when asked about difficulties working on Thor.
It was a difficult run. I had to come in on very short notice, wrap up the Latveria plots (none of which involved Thor) in three issues, go into a major crossover (which meant that Thor was busy for most of it) and then set up Matt's run. And then Matt's run was delayed, and I had to pull another four issue story to fit in the gap between the one and the next. What started as 5 issues expanded into 11 (plus 2 tie-ins).
It was incredibly hectic. It was also, I think, the thing that's most helped my career. It was an impossible job, and I did something that – as you notice – that most people seemed to like and didn't actual lose sales was no small thing. I've never asked Marvel about it, but it wouldn't surprise me if being offered Uncanny was directly related to not messing it up.
ConWatch: MCM will be running a Birmingham MCM comic convention to run alongside their Memorablia show, from the 31st March until the 1 April 2012. No fooling.
ConWatch2: IDW will be making a trip to London for the London Super Convention at the end of February.
NewsWatch: Can he swing from a thread? Take a look overhead. News that scientists are able to artifically alter silk worms to create a stronger, spider-like thread has had the media reaction that soon Spider-Man may be a reality.
Of course, that would entail genetically altering a human in a very diffrent way. And the web to come out of his bottom. However, we may get a silk that is stronger than steel…
