With the announcement, we also learn that the first 10 minutes of the film will take place in Johannesburg – and it won't be substituting as a different city, according to Gauteng Film Commission's (Desmond Mthembu):
The great thing about this movie is that they are shooting Johannesburg as Johannesburg. Often you will find filmmakers will shoot in Johannesburg and portray the location as Los Angeles. This time around the first 10 minutes of the film will be of Johannesburg.
So who is in South Africa and what are they doing there? Apparently Robert Downy Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, and Scarlett Johansson will all not be present for this stretch of the shoot. Speculate away.
