Timey Wimey Thriller All Our Yesterdays Headed To The Silver Screen

Cristin Terrill's debut novel, All Our Yesterdays, is picking up quite the pre-release buzz. The novel follows Em and Finn, a couple with a shared past,now locked up in cells next to one another.

Each has to listen as the other is interrogated by a figure known only as The Doctor – now THERE'S a crossover waiting to happen! -about events that haven't happened yet.

They have no hope of answering his questions and no hope of escape until Em finds a note from her future self with instructions on how to escape and travel back in time. The only problem is, in order to change the future, she has to kill Finn…

There's an interesting confluence of influences in there, from The Terminator to The Host with a light seasoning of V For Vendetta for good measure. I'm planning on reading it and will report back but the studios have clearly already got a copy and are sufficiently impressed to have optioned it. Deadline reported that Global Produce and Gold Circle Entertainment are sharing the rights and have hired Brian Miller to pen the script.

Miller's recent credits are a little…eccentric. He wrote Apollo 18, which I enjoyed far more, it seems, than pretty much everyone else on the planet. I'm comfortable being the guy in the tinfoil hat on that one, especially as part of the reason I enjoyed it was it's note-perfect parody of crappy UFO 'whistle blower' documentaries.

His other, most recent credit is even wackier, as he was the last person to polish the script for Rome, Sweet Rome. Aside from having a just amazingly stupid, ill-fitting name that project is notable for being the first screenplay adapted from a Reddit thread, and will tell us a story about how well a US Marine unit would do in battle against the Roman Empire.

It's a fun concept, one Jonathan Hickman also worked with in Pax Romana, and I honestly hope it gets made, even if the title does imply it's a wacky comedy involving George Burns being thrown back in time to the height of the Roman Empire.

Though, actually, I might watch that too…
