TruTV Sets Dates for Chris Gethard, Talk Show; Announces New Series
Up-and-coming comedy cabler (and I'm sure proud recipient of The Weekly Static's 2017 Most Valuable Player award) truTV took to the stage at today's Television Critics Association (TCA) to give details on three new series as well as announce the premiere dates for several returning series.

Tacoma FD: A half-hour comedy from co-creators and stars Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme (from the comedy troupe Broken Lizard) that is "set in a firehouse in the wettest city in America. Light on blazes that need extinguishing, they are basically fire fighters who are always ready to fight fires… but in this wet city, they also have to fight their own boredom." Heffernan and Lemme will executive alongside David Miner and Greg Walter from 3 Arts Ent and Kyle Clark from Silverscreen Pictures.
Paid Off with Michael Torpey: Set for Summer 2018 with a 16-episode order, Paid Off with Michael Torpey "gives three lucky college grads – saddled with student debt – the chance to test the depth of their degrees with fun, fast paced trivia questions. In the end, one lucky winner will get the chance to have their student debt paid off." Co-created and produced by host Torpey and Cowboy Bear Ninja, Michael Melamedoff and Adrian Selkowitz will executive produce for Cowboy Bear Ninja; alongside Torpey, Ethan Berlin, and Leigh Hampton.
Bobcat Goldthwait's Misfits & Monsters: An eight-episode scripted anthology series set for Summer 2018, the series will examine "universal truths in society and pop culture and turns them inside out in completely unique and entertainingly absurd ways. Each episode is a standalone story set to subvert the satire of the world we live in while also exploring awkward, flawed characters and telling socially-relevant stories with imaginative twists." Produced by Left/Right with Goldthwait, Banks Tarver, Ken Druckerman, Olivia Wingate and Michele Armour serving as executive producers; the series stars Michael Ian Black, Bridget Everett, Dave Foley, Seth Green, Melissa Joan Hart, David Koechner, Samm Levine, Joel Murray, Dave Pasquesi and Danny Pudi.
As for returning shows, The Chris Gethard Show with host Chris Gethard returns with new live episodes on March 20 at 11:00 pm; and Adam Conover's Adam Ruins Everything airs six animated episodes starting on March 20 at 10:00 pm (serving as a direct lead-in to the season premiere of The Chris Gethard Show). Talk Show The Game Show will premiere back-to-back episodes to kick off the second season on February 1 at 10:30 pm. Returning with host Guy Branum are show judges Karen Kilagraff and Casey Schreiner, who will be joined by a number of celebrity guests/contestants, including: Melissa Joan Hart, Caroline Rhea, Jared Logan, Colin Quinn, Charles Barkley, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Fortune Feimster, Reggie Bush, Nick Thune, Cheryl Hines, Ron Funches, Michael Kosta Billy Eichner, David Koechner and Lauren Lapkus.
