Russians Object To Untranslated Ker-Pows

Amazing_Spider-Man_Vol_1_361_Variant_RussianThe Moscow Times is reporting that Russian translators are objecting to sound effects in comic books not being translated into Russian, giving examples "bang," "crash" and "wow".

In a letter sent to the Vinogradov Russian Language Institute, a group of translators are insisting that the English Onomatopoeia sound effects find their Russian equivalents

Some examples are given, such as the Lezgian words "chorkh" and "khurt-khurt" for scratching and swallowing liquid.

I'm sure there could be many an occasion, when you could use both!
