San Diego Comic-Con President, John Rogers, Has Died

Earlier this evening, San Diego Comic-Con released the news that their President, John Rogers, had passed away.

That he died on Saturday, November 10th, 2018 as a result of complications from glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

As our longest serving president, first elected in 1986 and re-elected every year since, John's tenure saw Comic-Con grow from a select gathering of fans to the largest and most prestigious convention of its kind in the world.

And that in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The American Brain Tumor Association or the American Civil Liberties Union.

Rogers started working for Comic-Con International in 1978 and has worked continuously on the show for over 35 years, as both Technical Coordinator and Films Coordinator before becoming its President. In that time, Comic-Con has grown from a local event drawing 5,000 people to an international phenomenon attracting over hundreds of thousands of attendees and major media attention each year.

John Rogers is survived by his wife Janet Tait, sister Barbara, and his brother David. Bleeding Cool sends our deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
