Sketch Scammers Return Stock To Stores After Seeing Their Faces On Bleeding Cool
For the last few days, we've been running stories on the sketch scammers of Detroit, con men selling and trading faked sketches and signed books, with forged Certifcates Of Authenticity exploiting the names of Robert Kirkman, Rob Guillory, Fiona Staples and Norm Breyfogle. On eBay, through CraigsList and directly at stores.
A number of comic retailers were hit by this gang, and one Bleeding Cool report managed to get photos of them, thanks to the WonderWorld's CCTV system.
Which seems to have done the trick.
I'm told that after Bleeding Cool published the photos, the scammers returned to each of the stores they had successfully scammed, including Warp 9 and Daggets Comics, to plead forgiveness and return the scammed stock and money.
And it stands, I don't believe anyone is still pressing charges against them.
