The Devilers #1 Sells Out Of All 14,700 Copies
Dynamite's new Creators Unleashed line debuted in stores today with The Devilers #1 by Joshua Hale Fialkov and Matt Triano. We are now getting word that the book is sold out. The initial orders came in at 11,600 before final order cut-off with 14,700 shipped.
Part of the deal with the Creators Unleashed line was for the book's price to be at $2.99 and fully-returnable by retailers. This meant there would be no over-printing because there just wasn't a budget for printing much over the orders other than to cover damages.
When told of the sell out, Fialkov responded with: "I'm thrilled at the appetite for new original work in comics, and huge congrats to Nick and the Dynamite crew on helping to boldly race towards that bright future."
And Triano added: "I'm excited that retailers are willing to invest in new titles because it speaks to a broader truth regarding readers' interests and suggests that even the readers, themselves, are diversifying. It's heartening."
Checking in with Nick Barrucci, CEO and Publisher of Dynamite, he has said that there is no plans for a second printing at this time. So if you want a copy, you better grab it at your comic shop today as they are likely to go fast. You might even want to grab a second one for your dear friend, eBay.
