The New 52 Superman DID Wear The Red Trunks After All
When the New 52 relaunch began back in 2011, one of the more prominent changes, if you can believe it, was the removal of Superman's iconic red trunks. Source of so many jokes about superheroes wearing their underwear over their trousers, the new costume caused headlines and much fan bitterness.
Now the upcoming Superman writer Geoff Johns, CCO of DC Comics, is known for a more conservative approach to the icons. He brought back Hal Jordan, he brought back Barry Allen, he put Teen Titans back in San Francisco, he's considered a force of opposition to Dan DiDio. And, indeed, in the preview pages of the new book it seems to indicate that Clark Kent will be working with the Daily Planet again, to some degree, as opposed to his blogsite ClarkCatropolis.com.
But more than that… there's a newspaper front page that reveals a Superman in the red trunks. A continuity goof? Some kind of burial genital robe? Or did, at some point, Superman slip on the crimson briefs? And if so… can he get them back?
Now, the question is, have the DC spods got enough time to amend it before the final issue is published next month? Or is it already at the printers?
