Wizard World To Launch Comic Con Subscription Box
Loot Crate. Nerd Block. Geek Pack. Okay I made that last one up but you know it's next. Monthly mystery subscription boxes are all the rage and they've been helping to goose the sales of certain comic since the relaunch of Amazing Spider-Man #1, with Rocket Raccoon, Doctor Who, Star Wars and Orphan Black caught up in their orbit ever since. And now Marvel has launched their very own subscription box, and everyone else is watching the market avidly.
I understand that Wizard World is launching their own version, the first Comic Con to enter the market. And calling it Comic Con In A Box while they are at it, applying for a trademark under the terms "Subscription-based order fulfilment services in the field of comics, posters, books, artwork, toys, apparel, movies and music" as well as protecting "Comic Con Box" and "Wizard World Presents Comic Con Box".
Wizard World Comic Cons have recently moved into profit, are expanding, and have been creating exclusive items such as the Walking Dead #1 variants, which have also become instant collectibles. It does seem like a natural expansion for the company.
