2K Games Are Jumping Back Into Tennis With TopSpin 2K25

TopSpin 2K25 was unveiled at the Australian Open as 2K Games will be diving back into tennis for their latest video game franchise.

2K Games have decided they will be making Tennis their next focus as the team revealed their latest game in the works called TopSpin 2K25. The announcement kind of came out of the blue as the company made the official reveal of this one during the Australian Open, which is taking place right now in Melbourne, Victoria. Kotaku originally reported back in 2022 that the series would be making a return and would be in development from 2K's dev studio Hanger 13, but considering how quiet things have been since that was announced, this was basically the company's way of making a big splash with it at an event tied to the sport. Not a lot of details were released about it beyond the trailer you see here, as they basically showed off some graphics but absolutely nothing having to do with gameplay, modes, and more.

For those of you who aren't aware, TopSpin 2K25 is basically going to serve as a relaunch of a previously established series, as 2K released the original game over 20 years ago on the very first Xbox and PS2. But unlike other series you may be familiar with from the company, it wasn't cranking out a new game every single year. In fact, as far as sports titles go, TopSpin (or Top Spin) was kind of inconsistent. The series released four titles between 2003 and 2011, and each game went through a different developer each time a new game was made. A couple of them are pretty good, but its clear that at a certain point, the company just dropped the series and moved forward with focusing on some of their bigger titles that latest the test of time. We'll see what comes of this latest title, but no dates were given as to when we might learn more.
