CD Projekt Red Says Cyberpunk 2077 Will Be A Single Player-Focused RPG And Not A Service
Microtransactions and the broader concern of 'games as a service' are the terms of the day as the industry-wide conversation continues to burn around AAA games. Just about every online game, especially ones with loot box systems, is coming under scrutiny leaving many to speculate about how it will all affect titles on the horizon.
In a recent video, Pretty Good Gaming recently speculated that CD Projekt Red's upcoming title Cyberpunk 2077 might be looking for extra ways to monetise, too. The speculation came from comments made from CD Projekt Red's Adam Kicinski to Polish outlet Strefa (via Kotaku), that the game would likely have online as that is "necessary, or very recommended if you wish to achieve a long-term success".
However, in a public tweet, the developer didn't mince words about the idea of the game as a service:
That's a hell of a last sentence to come from a big studio.
So, at least if their parameters meet the audiences, there should be nothing to worry about… right?
