Dauntless Introduces a New Mastery System in Today's Massive Update
Phoenix Labs has (literally) just released the biggest content update in Dauntless history with the "Path of the Slayer." The new patch introduces the game's Mastery System which provides a new way for players to earn rewards for completing long-term challenges based on specific Behemoths and pieces of gear. "Path of the Slayer" also updates the game's progression system, which changes the way Slayers level up in game. Additionally, Hunt Pass Season 4: Burndown also starts today, giving players a chance to earn new barbarian-themed rewards on both the basic and Elite tracks.
The new Mastery system provides a new foundation for Slayers to hone their skills with challenged ranging from Behemoths, gear crafting, experience, achievement hunting, and by unlocking new customization options. Each Behemoth and crafted weapon – not just weapon class – has its own unique Mastery card for players to work on conpleting. Slayers will also find new alternate special attack options for the Hammer, War Pike, Sword and Chain Blades, allowing Slayers to further customize their experience.
The core progression rework gets Slayers into the meat of Dauntless faster, and introduces concepts like crafting, combat, quests, and more through tutorial cards. The progression rework introduces a brand new "End of Hunt" screen that provides Slayers with a wealth of information, including progress made in various Mastery cards, quest rewards, and even Behemoth break parts earned.
Quests and the Dauntless map have also been revamped to clearly define the challenges Slayers can expect on any given hunt, and Behemoth hunts are now organized by their elemental attribute, which works with the revamped crafting system that introduces elemental Orbs and Arcstones to replace some of the myriad Behemoth crafting parts for a more streamlined crafting experience.
Lastly, Hunt Pass Season 4: Burndown. This Hunt Pass transforms Ramsgate into an arid landscape marked with ceremonial braziers spread throughout the city, and offers Slayers a number of limited-time barbaric rewards.
"Path Of The Slayer" releases just ahead of Dauntless' summer launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the Epic Games store.
