Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Is Coming To Nintendo Switch
The underappreciated Wii U gem, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is set to come to Nintendo Switch.
When Tropical Freeze came out, it was hurt by a quiet release. A new adventure with the big man himself should have been a huge release, but it seemingly passed by with out much hoopla, despite by all accounts, being quite excellent. Of course, it did come out on the under performing Wii U, which might well have hurt it.
Well, the game is getting a second bite at the apple and this time, I expect it will find its audience. The title is seeing a re-release on the Nintendo Switch, which should be a massive boost for the title. It was announced in Nintendo's recent surprise Nintendo Direct and we won't have too long to wait for it. The game isn't all that far away in the grand scheme of things as it's set for release on May 4, 2018 (It also makes for the second Donkey Kong centric announcement in 24 hours as he was just announced for Mario + Rabbids).
On top of this, Funky Kong is being added to the game as a playable character. He will make several missions easier, so if you are struggling with a level, whip out the coolest of the Kongs.
I hope, and think, that Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will really surprise people. It is a brilliant platformer, and a lot of people missed out on it first time around. I don't think there is a huge danger here as people are continually looking for new things to play on their Switches. Here's hoping.
