Pearl Abyss is celebrating the tenth anniversary of Black Desert by showing off a ton of new content during the Heidel Ball 2024. The team invited us out to Beynac-et-Cazenac in southern France, as they held their livestream live at the castle on top of the hill. If the place looks familiar to players,  it should, as it is the first major city ever made for the game, as Hiedel was modeled after Beynac-et-Cazenac, making it the perfect location for them to show off all of the new content coming to the game over the next calendar year. After making the long hike to the castle, we sat down to take part in the event, which you can see in the video above.

Black Desert – Land of the Morning Light: Seoul

Building on last year's content, the team has created this new expansion that brings many of the sights of the studio's home city to the game. Much of the new content in this new continent will be based on Korean folklore, with a heavy 1influence from the Joseon Dynasty and ancient Korean folktales. The team re-created Hwanghaedo, which will be the setting to conclude stories from the previous expansion. You'll be reunited with companions from the original expansion, including Dolswe, who will invite you back to the capital city and the greater Hwanghae Province. This will unlock eight new stories tied to those folktales, as you'll get more in-depth experiences. in the gameplay this time around. Plus, there are several new boss fights that will truly put your skills to the test.

Players will also encounter the new Palace Management system after completing the story, where you manage various production resources and nodes, as well as gain the ability to complete trade items and deliver finished products to merchants. There will also be the addition of a new Primordial-grade weapon called Sovereign. Inspired by the Dark Bonghwang, it will be a part of a boss in the new expansion, making this the highest-tier weapon in the game.

New Class: Dosa

On July 3, a new class will be updated simultaneously worldwide for PC, as Dosa arrives as the 28th class for Black Desert. The character uses clouds and smoke as a way to attack, as you'll have a sword in one hand to slash enemies as you see fit, while you have a pipe that creates different kinds of creations that will help you fight off enemies. This includes making several allies to help you out while you chain attacks against enemies and make them pay for even stepping in your path. Not to mention having a teleport movement that will make you hard to hit on multiple levels. When utilized at your fullest potential, you basically could become a chain attack machine that is virtually unhittable.

New Hardcore Server

Those looking for a challenge will be happy to know they are making an all-new Hardcore Server for veteran players, complete with seasoned-based content with active PvP engagement. Players will get characters who are Level 60 with pre-provided gear. If your character dies, you'll be whisked away to a cell to fight your way out in 1-v-1 fights or find a means of escape. Once you do one or the other, you'll return to the main world. If you die in the cell, you'll have to work with others to get out. The goal of the server is to give those who want to focus only on gameplay a place to do so without worrying about gear.

New Guild Changes

Another major milestone is that Black Desert will revamp the guild system. Simply put, the game has been running for ten years, it needs a change, and that change will be coming shortly. This is a chance for players to define their guild's identity, goals, and playstyle in a new way. The new Guild system will help you earn fame from content, such as PvP and PvE, as you'll be granted honor rewards like a rideable dragon.

PS5 Version

While they didn't go into a ton of great detail about it, we do know there will be a PS5 version o the way that will enhance the graphics of the game compared to the Xbox and PS4 versions of Black Desert. They have enhanced the graphics, loading times, a better frame rate, and more. No date has been given for a launch, but there will be a final test this December.

Jordine Saga & Summer Event

The Jordine Saga will be coming to Black Desert released across all regions on July 10, which will include an important character with a major role throughout the main story. This will also tie into a Summer event in which they will be bringing back characters such as the Papu, Otter, Shellfolk, and Earfolk races.

Black Desert Chapter 2 – Going Back in Time

Looking ahead, the team has decided the next chapter of Black Desert will come with a new region that takes a very different approach. First off, two new regions will open up as you'll be going to Everfrost and Demon Land. The first one will have you go to the Mountain of Dawnbreak in a sequel to the Eternal Winter expansion, introducing the Dawnbreak Shrine and Caphras story. In the Everfrost mountains, you'll find an enormous dungeon where you will find clues about the world's truth, made up of 100 floors of challenging battles. As for Demon Land, this region will be one massive fortress in harsh conditions that will push you and others to the limits. This will serve as the ending of the first chapter of Black Desert.

From here, you'll be going into a totally new adventure that will take you into the past, centuries before the current look of the land of Black Desert today. You will live out adventures much like the Magnus system; this will take you back in time to see lands before they were massively changed, and you'll live out an experience to see how it came about. Maybe even change history. But more details on that will come down the line.
