First Call Of Duty: Mobile World Championship Starts In April
Activision is hosting its first official Call of Duty: Mobile esports event. Starting April 30th, 2020, any player ranked veteran or higher on multiplayer will be able to enter the tournament. The tournament will start with online qualifiers which run from April 30th to May 24th. Players can register via an in-game event. The top players from this event will move on to the higher stages of the tournament. With a pool prize worth over $1 million, this will attract and appeal to a number of players.
"We are very excited to launch our highly anticipated competitive tournament in Call of Duty: Mobile," said Chris Plummer, vice president of mobile at Activision. "As the next revolution in our fan-favorite ranked play, this tournament format gives eligible Call of Duty: Mobile players a chance to compete with players from around the world for cash and prizes."
More details will be announced on the COD: Mobile Twitter account over the next few days. This is yet another tournament we've announced over the past few weeks that players can enter from the safety of their homes. As the ongoing worldwide COVID-19 pandemic continues, it's good to see gaming companies coming together to help players and communities. We've covered how FaZe Clan is looking to help, and the new Social Distancing Cup! Hopefully, we'll start to see live tournaments start again in the not too distant future. For now, though, these events are great ways to keep the gaming community together.
COD: Mobile launched in May of 2019 and in its first two months had over 172 million downloads, and still sees new players joining in daily. The game is free to play and is available on IOS and Google Play devices. Will you be entering the tournament? Have a game you think we should follow? Let us know in the comments below!
